Assignment #2

Frankenstein by Mary Shelly explains how a young college student from the University of Ingolstadt gains enough knowledge of modern science to create a creature that could help him out by completing laboring tasks. Instead, the monster, also known as Frankenstein caused chaos that was almost impossible to be stopped.
Victor's creation led to the death of his brother, best friend, and wife, while indirectly being the reason for other innocent deaths as well. The monster made his life miserable to the point where he regretted ever making it, "I perceived as the shape came nearer...that it was the wretch I had created." -Pg. 82. Victor feared Frankenstein and had a goal to end its existence. Even though Frankenstein appeared vicious and revealed the same behavior, he still had a side to him that was caring, he wanted love, but had no relationship with anyone, but Victor; text evidence is, "But I will not be tempted to set myself in opposition to thee. I am thy creature, and I will be even mild and docile to my natural lord and king if thou wilt also perform thy part, the which thou owest me."- Pg. 83. Victor had no empathy for Frankenstein, his everyday focus was to end what he had started. Overwhelmed at Frankenstein's confession, he replied, "Begone, or let us try our strength in a fight, in which one must fall." -Pg. 84. Even though Victor wanted to end the monster's life, he was later convinced that he could change him, and worked towards a new plan.
